The Orange County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) are meeting from 9:00am to 5:00pm to discuss matters in all county districts.
As the Orlando area grows, we’re facing transportation challenges and Mayor Jerry Demings is looking to raise and invest over half a billion dollars into Orange County transportation projects via a new transportation penny sales-tax, which half would be funded by tourists. Last year, the Orlando Economic Partnership outlined seven regional priorities in transportation in their Transportation 2030 Report which includes support for biking and biking infrastructure. We support these investments into transportation, but would like to see more attention put towards adding biking infrastructure, improving safer routes to schools, and completing the connections between bike routes within the county.
If you would like to learn more about the Transportation Tax plan, please join us at this public hearing and let us know where you’d like to see more attention placed for safer biking in the Orlando area.
